POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer is a member of the Engineering team who identifies manufacturing solutions in the form of: Production Drawing creation/maintenance, Manufacturing Processes, Engineering Change Requests, CapEx project assistance, and tooling purchases/upkeep. The Manufacturing Engineer will work with the Quality, Production, and Materials teams on their improvement projects.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be both hands-on with production and in the office to document and develop SOPs/Drawings (approximate split between shop floor and office is 70/30, respectively). Provide leadership and collaborate with management team to design, develop, test and deploy innovative, cost effective/efficient processes and equipment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO HERE

Manufacturing Engineer

  • Production Support

§ Create/review production drawings and work with planning and engineering team to resolve any discrepancies (this includes embedding within the Production Team to learn, document, and improve current production methods).

§ Bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing.

§ Ensure all paperwork and projects meet quality standards.

§ Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes, i.e. adding fixtures, changing equipment used for the job, and improving standard methods.

§ Work closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to identify and resolve procedural, process, and product quality problems.

§ Provide statistical analysis evaluating the efficiency of current processes, procedures, equipment and associates.

Maintenance Support

§ Aid in the creation of PMs and TPMs for maintenance planning and equipment reliability.

§ Create/provide scheduled tooling maintenance plans for all fabrication equipment.

§ Assist maintenance in developing technical training plans for proper machine operation.

§ Continuously assess processes and equipment to recommend improvements or solutions to problems.

Operations Support

§ Identify and implement solutions to production, quality, and manufacturing processes.

§ Design standard manufacturing processes for new products moving from design to production.

§ Identify innovative approaches to plant-wide issues that create opportunities for process improvements that positively impact the manufacturing process.

§ Establish work measurement programs and collect and analyze data; develop and maintain key performance indicators and metrics.

§ Aid in Capital Expenditure research/implementation.

§ Develop inspection methods, audit procedures, sampling plans, and other QA applications as appropriate to assure product and process conformance.

Safety:

  • Works with team members to actively improve safety of the plant
  • Ensure safety action items assign to you are completed accurately and timely
  • Assist in the development and management documentation for regulatory compliance - Safety/OSHA & DEP

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or Industrial/Applied Science
  • Minimum of 3+ years hands on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient computer skills – particularly: Microsoft Office, SolidWorks/AutoCAD, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience with production drawings and process mapping methodologies
  • Strong written and oral communications skills - including presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in metal fabrication or building materials industry is preferred

Ability to communicate and provide constructive feedback in a positive nature at all levels of the organization regarding performance and objectives. Ability to take direction from Senior Management and display a positive “can-do” attitude, strong work ethic and utilizing strong problem-solving skills.
