Master Production Planner

POSITION SUMMARY

The Master Production Scheduler/ Planner is responsible for forecast and coordinate manufacturing orders to maximize capacity and efficiency to achieve KPI targets.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Forecasting

  • Regular review of the forecast and firm sales order demand in the master schedule.
  • Track and manage the accuracy and effectiveness of the master schedules to rationally adjust forecast and to continuously improve the overall master scheduling process.
  • Provide visibility into Product Mix changes based on Sales adjustments, seasonality, etc.
  • Work with sales team on capacity and lead times.
  • Assure accuracy of releases prior to distributing to shop floor.
  • Analyze short/long term capacities to minimize the cause for past due orders and/or overtime.
  • Provide status of current production orders and material shortages to management.

Scheduling/Nesting

  • Work with Planners and Production Supervisors/Managers to help balance and coordinate the manufacturing orders based on material/tooling/OSP/capacity availability.
  • Track and manage Change Orders in cooperation with Sales.
  • Coordinate and participate in the purchasing process to ensure just-in-time material delivery, as well as tooling and component availability to ensure no material stock-outs in support of the production consumption rates and the committed schedule.
  • Initiate material release and production documentation to work areas for delivery to committed customer schedules.
  • When necessary, nest designs to facilitate sheet metal component manufacturing.
  • Track, analyze, and report results for plant Key Performance Indicators.
  • Manage and direct the timely execution of projects, from inception to completion.
  • Support Shop leads and Machine Operators as necessary.
  • Identify key issues and suggest and implement plant-specific improvement activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) or four (4) year technical degree recommended.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience using 2D and 3D modeling software – SOLIDWORKS / AutoCAD
  • Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related but not limited to sheet metal, machining, casting and welding beneficial.
  • Experience with nesting software e.g., SigmaNest.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and process improvement ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, relentlessly execute and deliver results through a team in conformance with action plans in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to apply lean manufacturing methodology, TOC, and problem-solving skills to drive the business improvements in a metric-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and possession of excellent problem solving and organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
