POSITION SUMMARY

The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing and production processes. These solutions may apply new technology, implement cost reductions, and perform lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement. This entry-level position involves collaborating with senior engineers, production associates and other cross functional team members to ensure processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality and safety standards.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in designing and developing robust manufacturing processes to drive out waste.
  • Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate process performance.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flow diagrams.
  • Maintain accurate records of process changes and updates.
  • Support the implementation of quality control measures to ensure product consistency and compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action plans for process-related issues.
  • Ensure processes comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process-related issues.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using techniques such as SMED, Kaizen and 5S.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders from idea conception to implementation to ensure alignment and timely execution of project goals.
  • Regularly audit implemented solutions to verify effective changes are being sustained.
  • Process Engineer should expect to spend 50%-75% of the workday on the manufacturing floor.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment (internship or co-op experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the application of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
